#smwknd Community Night — An Experiential Laboratory in the Art of Gathering
We are launching #smwknd with a wonderful gathering that celebrates, well, gatherings in a time of social media. In that vein, we have invited Priya Parker, author of the wonderful new book, “The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters” to run a live community experience for us to kick off the weekend together. For a portion of the night, she’s going to run a laboratory to build our community together and then reverse engineer what she did live to help all of us better understand the elements of a transformative gathering. (TED’s Chris Anderson and Deepak Chopra have given enthusiastic testimonials). Come meet fellow attendees and speakers, as well as NYC guests who can’t make the weekend. It’s going to be a special night!6-7pm: Meet & Greet (Cash bar)
7-8:30pmThe Art of Gathering Laboratory: Building the IRL Community with Priya Parker and Sree Sreenivasan
8:30pm – 9pm: More bar!

ABOUT PRIYA: Priya Parker is the founder of Thrive Labs, at which she helps activists, elected officials, corporate executives, educators, and philanthropists create transformative gatherings. Trained in the field of conflict resolution, Parker has worked on race relations on American college campuses and on peace processes in the Arab world, southern Africa, and India. She studied organizational design at M.I.T., public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, and political and social thought at the University of Virginia.
